Promise of Spring by Barbara Oswald

The wind lashes unmercifully at the trees
Whipping the branches into a fevered frenzy
Attempting to plant fear into the awakening land

The snow catches the winds mood
Allowing itself to be driven wildlyagainst all objects
As if knowing this would be its last mighty stand

People clutch their coats tighter about them
Braving the icy tug of the March wind
Ignoring the desperate snows angry sting

For in their hearts the sun is glowing
Warming their frozen reality
With the wonderful promise of Spring...
