What is art? It is defined as.....human creativity; skill; any craft. Art is the end result of creativity. We all have a talent for something. Sometimes the talent never gets realized and sometimes our work is admired by the world. It is sad that a lot of times the talent is not really realized until the human who created the art is dead. I think this is only cause because the death becomes public knowledge and it causes those who, before never noticed the art created by the person, to take time and see the person's art. The death of an artist actually seems to become an entity of a type of business anymore. I think too many times we get too caught up in our own little worlds. We are so busy we hardly ever take time out to enjoy art. Some of you really do not even care about art. You go to work, come home, then turn on the tube. Some of you are interested in art but think that art is only something that the rich and famous really have access to. You flock to the museums in awe of what you can only dream of having but heaven forbid if you ever meet a famous...cultured person you want to .....keep up in the arts in the conversation. Very few, go to see art, just because it is art and beautiful. Some of you avoid art be cause it is a 'societal' thing and you want to avoid society. Which brings us to graffiti, I personally love some of the graffiti! There are a lot of cities now paying for the graffiti on walls of buildings. Which is totally another controversy that some other day I may approach. What I want to do here is get you to realize all the art that is in your live. Maybe by doing this you will begin to enjoy art in itself. Art is should bring enjoyment not boredom response when the subject comes up. Art is not just for the rich. It is for all to enjoy and experience even the poor, the homeless. First you must realize what exactly art is. Art comes in many forms. Some of these we would normally not describe as art but they are the end result of human creativity so therefor they are art. The master chief, or everyday person, who makes a meal that either tastes like heaven or looks like heave is art. The art of cooking. Some have made some dishes that are even too beautiful to eat, but just as wonderful when we eat them. What about the music you listen to? That is art. Art that we may not touch or see but an art that we can listen to. It is talent being shared with all that wish to listen. What about all the poems or stores being written? They are art forms, the art of words. Nowadays it is probably more or less a lost art being given new life as increasingly due to the internet, are taking up again. What about that web page or the graphics you are finding or the digital art forms now arising. They are also wonderful forms of art. If you have ever been a parent, you know, that the most beautiful for of art is the creation your child made you. (Or at least it should be!!) I would like to make one point before I go on. I personally do not think art is just the result of 'human creativity'. The sunset and sun rise are masterpieces of nature. Nature has wondrous beauty and some of it can not be called anything but masterpieces of art. Famous photographers (example, Ansel Adams) have captured the nature's beauty and their work is definitely art! I would not just like to talk about art but to share some art with you. I hope you enjoy them! The following are unique miniatures that are all hand made from ceramics, a dough and wood used as some of the bases. The artist, Jennette Schossau, whom I personally know, is totally amazing. She can look at something just once and then later duplicate it in her miniatures. She has taken photographs of pets and made miniature sculptures of the pet. She does sale some of her work and will make things by your specifications. She mainly does her craft out of enjoyment. The hours she spends working on a project are here escapism, her way to relax. "note: To see a larger version of the following images just click on them. Then to return hit the back key on browers"
If you would like to contact the artist you may do so but only by
snail mail. The following I discovered at an outdoor art show we had. It featured artist from around the world. I am only sorry I did not get pictures of all of it. Some of the work was totally wonderful. The following are handmade folk instruments called mountain Dulcimers. They are not only works of art in their looks but in their sound. I was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Wilson to take one down and actually play it for me. The sound it emerges is just beautiful and totally not what I expected from the instrument. If you ever get the chance to listen to one being played, you will not regret it! ![]()
Mr. and Mrs Richard Wilson can be contacted at 73162.1113@compuserve.com. What is my purpose in this? I think art in all forms is important. I also feel we are too quick to judge art by what is famous or what the art society calls art. Art adds please to our lives whether it's the painting you have more insurance on then your home or the simple first clay design your child made in school. Art is not only for the enjoyment of the observer but the enjoyment of the artist for a job well done. Which I do not think enough of us take the time to express our appreciation to an artist for the enjoyment they bring to our life. Art is all around us in many things and in many ways. Take the time and enjoy it!
