David Wimble is a talented songwriter and guitarist. He is from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. His early influences were Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison and Jim Carrol. Most of his lyrics are of a universal theme. He started the band Big Meteor, which made a CD. The band then broke up leaving David as the only member. David wishes to build Big Meteor back to a five piece band and play original music.
Big Meteor's CD "Wild River" is interesting. It is a CD that tends to grow on you. The music ranges from what would describe as rock & roll, some Celtic, country, and blues. The music that David wrote is very good. I feel it is a CD that you would enjoy listening to over and over. The only real problem I have is with the vocals. I am not saying that the vocals are bad. There are areas that bother me. I am no expert by any means but to me the music and vocals are lacking something in the mix. It may be something as simple as David would be better at different versions of music and someone else better at singing his songs, or David may just need some advice in how he is presenting the vocals. I do not know. I do feel that David is talented and with the right combinations can come up with some winning music for the band. The music itself is great. The blend and use of the guitars is wonderful. The over all sense you get is enjoyable and full of beat. You find yourself keeping time to the music. Some of the music sounds familiar but you just can not pin point that you have actually heard it before.
