THE "PULITZER PRIZE" OF ZINES

First-Ever Writer's Digest National Zine Publishing Awards Contest Announced

Writer's Digest magazine announces the first-ever WRITER'S DIGEST NATIONAL ZINE PUBLISHING AWARDS. Writers are encouraged to enter any Zine or E-Zine in one or more of 10 possible categories. Entries must be a self-published magazine, distributed at least twice a year either through electronic form, or in print. A complete set of rules and an entry form can be found at the publisher's website, www.writersdigest.com/zineawards. Deadline for all entries is November 25th, 2000.

"When it comes to zines, the topics at hand, the rules at work and the styles at play are all subject to the minds of their creators," says Katie DuMont, Associate Editor for Writer's Digest. "Writing 'Zine Scene' each month for the magazine, I have had the pleasure of reading the work of many talented writers expressing their passions for subjects ranging from the peculiar to the practical to the literary. This contest is a great way to showcase zinesters, and award their efforts."

One Grand-Prize Winner will be awarded $500 cash, a subscription to any one of the publisher's magazines and promotion on the pages of Writer's Digest. Other prizes range from $50 gift certificates toward the purchase of any F&W books, to magazine subscriptions and promotion--both in print and online--for the winning Zines.
