SNOCORE ROCK 2001 WITH THE UNION UNDERGROUND

The Union Underground, who released their debut CD, An Education In Rebellion on Portrait/Columbia Records on July 18th and whose debut single, "Turn Me On 'Mr. Deadman'" was #1 most added to rock radio two weeks in a row, will be on
"SnoCore Rock 2001, which begins in Las Vegas on January 19th along with Fear Factory, Kittie, Slaves on Dope, and Boy Hits Car. "Killing The Fly," the new track from "An Education In Rebellion," the #1 "Most Added at Rock and Active Rock" this week.

SnoCore is the original winter lifestyle tour that features live music concert performances from some of the most credible artists today. Past SnoCore lineups have included Gold and Platinum artists such as Sublime, Primus, Blink-182, The Pharcyde, Everclear, System of a Down, and Powerman 5000. Following in the tradition of other major music festivals such as Lollapalooza, Warped Tour, and Lilith Fair,
SnoCore is the only major music festival that tours during the winter.

ARTISTdirect.com SnoCore 2001 will see not one, but two SnoCore touring units on the road. Simultaneously to "SnoCoreRock", "SnoCore Icicle Ball" kicks off in Las Vegas on January 17 and will co-headline Galactic and Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, with special guests Lake Trout (thru Feb. 4) and Drums And Tuba (from Feb. 5). Both SnoCore tours will play most of the same cities and venues, and within a couple of days of each other.

Formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1996, The Union Underground guitarist Patrick Kennison and vocalist/guitarist Bryan Scott met in junior high school and, upon graduating high school, opted against entering college, instead investing
their money in a 24-track studio. Working solely in the studio, the two musicians released their songs on free hand-out cassettes, eventually selling more than 5,000
copies of an EP showcasing their harsh industrial rock and attracting the attention of major labels. Drummer Josh Memelo joined at the end of 1998, and bassist John Moyer followed soon after they signed a deal with Portrait (a subsidiary of Columbia Records). Unlike many of their contemporaries who signed with an indie label and worked their way up to one of the larger record companies, The Union Underground took a different approach; vocalist Scott explains that "we just didn't want to do the indie thing, because it wouldn't have done us any justice." In 2000, with a sound and a fanbase similar to Powerman 5000 and Godsmack, the band released both their major label debut, "An Education In Rebellion," which Alternative Press in the
January issue said, "...has the barking-and-grinding template established by bands from System of a Down to Static-X, and tack on a sense of humor reminiscent of
Powerman 5000," and their hard rock website which contains such surefire street-cred features as a Union Underground windows theme and screensaver.

JUNKYARD JANE DOES IT AGAIN AND AGAIN
Tacoma based "Swampabilly Blues" band Junkyard Jane has been chosen to represent the Northwest at the 17th Annual International Blues Challenge on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 2 and 3, 2001. "The Challenge: represents an international search by the Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations for the "Best Unsigned Blues Band." Prizes are awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, but more importantly this is an excellent opportunity to be heard by booking agents, festival producers and record label representatives. Over 50 bands competed last year, and past participants included Handy Award Winner Susan Tedeschi. The regional preliminary Journey to Memphis Battle of the Bands Competition was sponsored by the Cascade Blues Association and held at the Adrianna Ballroom in Portland on September 17. The search was conducted in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, with the five finalists competing before a panel of judges consisting of radio DJ's and record company executives. The criteria were talent, originality, stage presence, blues content and overall impression. As one of the judges was overheard saying, " Memphis ain't gonna know what hit 'em!" In other exciting Junkyard Jane news, singer/songwriter/percussionist Leanne Trevalyan was named Tacoma's Summy Award recipient for "Blues woman of the Year." And as fate would have it, vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Billy Stoops was named as the Summy Award winner for "Blues man of the Year." And as further proof that the Year 2000 belongs to Junkyard Jane, the band has just received TWO Muddy Award nominations from the Cascade Blues Association, one for "Best Regional Artist" and one for "Best NW Recording" (Milkin' the Frog). With two critically acclaimed CD/s under their belt, including the B.B. Award-winning release Milkin' the Frog, Junkyard Jane, The Washington Blues Society winner for "Best Band 2000," will be recording their third album in November.

Anthology 1978-2000" (C2D 49010) did not appear on the original 1989 home video release of the Anthology. Some highlights include:

- "Born In The U.S.A." - A solo acoustic performance from Springsteen's 1998 appearance on 'The Charlie Rose Show'." "Secret Garden" - Alternate version, with strings. Previously unreleased.

The second DVD confirmed for January 16, 2001 release is the film "Bruce
Springsteen and The E Street Band: Blood Brothers" (CVD 50139). The
documentary chronicles recording sessions for songs included on the 1995
Triple Platinum CD "Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits," and captures
Springsteen in the studio with The E Street Band for the first time since
their work on 1984's "Born In The U.S.A." The DVD features interactive
menus, lyrics, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and additional special
features.

"Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band: Blood Brothers" premiered on The
Disney Channel March 3, 1996. TV Guide described the documentary as
"superlative", and added: "Ernie Fritz's film is more than a record of a
legendary band's reunion. It offers a glimpse of Springsteen that fans
rarely see" "Blood Brothers" was released on VHS on November 19, 1996. A
double-sided laser disc version of the film was first released on October 1,
1996. "Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band: Blood Brothers" features

                                          WYCLEF COMMANDS CARNEGIE

On Friday, January 19, Wyclef Jean will make history when he rolls his entourage
into New York, NY's fabled Carnegie Hall.

The performance will mark the first time that a hip hop artist has ever
headlined the historic venue.

Joining Clef in this concert - a benefit for his Wyclef Jean Foundation - are
such superstars as Destiny's Child, Whitney Houston, Charlotte Church, Eric
Clapton and Third World. The performance will showcase a revue of musical eras
from the 1930s through the present and promises to be an incredibly diverse and
dynamic event.

Wyclef established his foundation in 1998 with a mission to provide musical
therapy, instruments and instruction to needy children around the world. In
order to make the Carnegie Hall show even more special, Clef has invited a group
of these gifted children - dubbed 'Clef's Kids' - to take the stage and perform
alongside some of the biggest names in the record biz.
