VISUAL ARTIST RECEIVES GOLDEN WEB AWARD FROM IAWMD

BERKELEY, CA Berkeley-based artist ElizabethHack has received a Golden Web Award from the International Associationof Web Masters and Designers (IAWMD) for the design of her website http://www.elizabethhack.com.The IAWMD is an association of web professionals with members in more than130 countries. The award is presented to those sites whose "web design,originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving recognition".

Elizabeth Hack, who is not a web professional,competed with hundreds of professional web designers throughout the world.Other recent award recipients included Miller Beer for the site www.millerbrewing.comand American Greetings for the site www.americangreetings.com. A list ofwinners is featured on the Golden Web Awards site www.goldenwebawards.com.

Hack received the Golden Web Award for her conceptand design of an online exhibition space. The cyber gallery featuresher paintings the Wave Series -- an ongoing project that incorporates mixedmedia. "The web site is an outgrowth of my paintings, which I considerinner landscapes. Excavating through the composition, my work expressesenergy and spirit. It is who I am. Being able to express yourself,regardless of the medium is what art is all about."

Hack's paintings are inspired by Sea Ranch, locatedon the northern coast of California. Photographs of the North Coast, takenby her husband, Philip Lewenthal are used as background images throughoutthe Web site. Elizabeth Hack's paintings have been exhibitedin numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout California includingthe Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, the Commonwealth Club Galleryin San Francisco, the University of California in Berkeley at the ASUCStudio and the Heller Gallery, the Hayward Arts Council Gallery in Hayward,Gloria Delson Fine Art,the Soolip Gallery in West Hollywood, the BerkeleyArt Center Gallery in Berkeley, Carol Dabb Fine Art, the Ashkenazy Galleryin Los Angeles, and the Orlando Gallery in Sherman Oaks.
