U2's Bono is a father for the fourth time. His wife, Ali, gave birth Monday in a Dublin hospital to a boy, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces. The 41-year-old Bono, whose real name is Paul Hewson, took time off from U2's "Elevation" tour, which began in the United States in March, to be with his wife for the birth. The hospital said mother and baby were doing well. The couple's three other children are daughters Jordan, 11, and Eve, 8. Son Elijah is nearly two.

Metallica's Lars Ulrich has another little boy in the family. The drummer's wife, Skylar, has given birth to the couple's second son, Metallica's representatives said Monday. Layne Ulrich was born in San Francisco on May 6, weighing in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces. The couple already has another young son, Myles, who will turn 3 in August. Ulrich, 37, and the rest of the heavy metal band recently began work on their next album, their 11th.

Whitney Houston has been chosen as the recipient of Black Entertainment Television's inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award. The BET Awards, honoring black achievement in the entertainment industry, will be presented on June 19 in Las Vegas.

"We Are Not Good Girls" - A Blues Drama, written by Grammy-Nominated Kate Hart and Directed by Heather Louise Parker will run from May 18th - June 30th, Fridays and Saturdays at West Seattle's Liberty Deli Dinner Theater. (Home of Riptide Theater Group)

The play features Meg McLynn, Sabrina Prielaida, Seattle Women in Blues and Nick Vigarino.

The first act takes place in a dressing room on the last night of a grueling tour. As the women get dressed, tensions flare and we are witness to the sacrifices they've made to keep singing the blues.
In the second act, these real life dramas channel through the onstage personas of the women, as they take the stage in an all-original blues revue.

LEFTOVERTURE by Kansas, their multi-platinum breakthrough album of 1976 (containing the Top 10 hit "Carry On Wayward Son") and the album that preceded it (and in many ways laid the musical foundation for the latter's success), 1975's MASQUE, both have been scheduled for May 22nd in-store date as
'Expanded Editions' on Epic/Legacy, each containing two previously unreleased bonus tracks. These albums now join Legacy's growing catalog of 'Expanded Editions' that includes multiple releases from the Byrds, Cheap Trick, Janis Joplin, Ted Nugent, Santana, Spirit, and others.

The two Kansas albums have been digitally remastered at Sony Music Studios in New York. Reissue production was supervised by the original producer (and long-time Kansas collaborator) Jeff Glixman. Newly-commissioned liner notes for each album, including up-to-date interview material with various band members, were written by Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild.

In the case of MASQUE, the two previously unreleased bonus tracks from 1975 include a rehearsal recording of "Child Of Innocence" (from Topeka) and a demo recording of "It's You" (from Leon Russell's Shelter Studios in Tulsa, "the only studio session that was not for a specific album," notes Glixman). LEFTOVERTURE has been augmented by live recordings of its two landmarks: "Carry On Wayward Son" (from Detroit's Pine Knob Theater, 1978) and "Cheyenne Anthem" (from the Palladium in New York, 1977).

"Kansas' secret weapon," writes David Wild, "was that the group - guitarist Kerry Livgren, lead singer and keyboardist Steve Walsh, drummer Phil Ehart, violinist and singer Robby Steinhardt, guitarist Rich Williams, and bassist Dave Hope - blended the musical ambition and agility of classically influenced 'progressive' art rock with a certain 'can-do' bar band spirit… Seemingly overnight, all the band's years of hard roadwork paid off. "LOVE JANIS," IN STORES ...

In conjunction with the much-heralded and highly-anticipated April 22, 2001, off-Broadway opening of the stage musical LOVE, JANIS, the companion CD to the show is available now on Columbia/Legacy, a division of Sony Music. The show is
based on the book Love, Janis written by her younger sister Laura Joplin, and comprised of the moving and revealing letters that the superstar wrote home to her family in Texas.

Also entitled LOVE, JANIS, the CD reflects the format of the musical itself, interspersing (in chronological order) original recordings by "the Queen of Rock and Roll" with evocative spoken-word selections that are excerpted from her letters and read by Catherine Curtin. Each of these spoken word selections is underscored by a music bed comprising various unreleased alternate takes of Big Brother & The
Holding Company studio recordings. In addition, in the booklet accompanying the CD, each spoken word interlude is placed in the historical context of Janis' life with
individual liner notes written by Laura Joplin.

FRANKIE VALLI & THE 4 SEASONS

Hits Anthology and Single Disc of "Should Have Been" Hits Due May 15 . They are acknowledged as one of the greatest vocal groups of all time.  They racked up an astonishing run of 46 Hot 100 entries between 1962 and 1977-including 15 Top Ten hits and five #1s, from "Big Girls Don't Cry" in 1962 to "December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)" in 1975. In 1990, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

And yet, like a certain stand-up comic, The 4 Seasons don't get no respect. Fans and historians alike have often overlooked (or simply taken for granted) the soulful leads and superb harmonies of the pride of Newark, New Jersey: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick  Massi (later replaced by Joe Long). Behind their unmistakable voices, Bob
Crewe's inspired productions blended swing with Spector, soul with psychedelia. And for stylistic range and sheer productivity, the Gaudio-Crewe songwriting team ranked with the best of their era.

Rhino Records is out to set the Seasonal record straight with the release of two career-defining retrospectives, both due in stores on May 15.
