Alternative Comics: Comics Available for Order Now

Both Titans of Finance and Magic Whistle are getting incredible press lately (see news above) and are already generating ton of buzz.

Titans of Finance

What goes up must come down. It’s a natural law that the New Economy just learned all over again. Recent times have been fantastically dramatic in the cloistered world of American business: Narratives full of larger-than-life characters, outsized egos, astonishing hubris, and lots and lots of money. It’s action-packed. It makes good comics. Titans of Finance, a new and groundbreaking merger of reality – straight from the business pages – and comix. Meet Ron Perelman, the man who made millions while presiding over the Mighty Marvel Comics train wreck. Thrill to many more of Wall Street’s most well-known Icaruses. Never mind Spawn and Spider-man. These are our superheroes now.

These tales "hit the mark," says comic book legend Harvey Pekar, and are "a brilliant use of the medium," according to TheStreet.com’s James J. Cramer. Best of all, it’s all true! Titans of Finance is entirely based on press accounts. The results are mind-blowing. Over the past five years, in fact, Titans has crushed the benchmark S&P 500. You’ve never seen anything like it – this is one acquisition you won’t regret.

(by Josh Neufeld and R. Walker) ISBN: 1-891867-05-9; DCD itemcode JUL011795; 24 b/w pages with full color covers; $3.50.

Magic Whistle #5

Nominated for the third consecutive year for the Harvey Awards Special Award For Humor, Sam Henderson is the funniest man in comics, hands down. Despite rumors of selling his soul to Hollywood, Sam Henderson continues to produce the comics that helped him sell out in the first place. Magic Whistle continues to explore new ways of approaching conventions of humor and commenting on the issues we can all relate to, including the loss of one's hindquarters. The Brube and Gunther Bumpus appear, plus "He Aims To Please" stars in his own poignant story. This plus more reader participation pages. Hilarious.

(by Sam Henderson) ISBN: 1-891867-08-3; DCD itemcode JUL011796; 32 pages; B&W; full color covers; $2.95 US.
