Mark Golter Professional Speedboarder
No that's not Darth Vader on a skateboard, it's 31-year-old Speedboarder, (Downhill Skateboarder) Mark Golter from Laguna Beach, CA. The sport of Speedboarding has been around since the late 1970's. Simply put, the first one who speeds down the hill and crosses the finish line wins. "This sport is an extreme adrenaline rush," said Golter. "When speeds above 50mph are reached, the rider is locked into a zone of focused concentration."

Just like any other athlete, Golter works hard on increasing his athletic performance. "Fitness is a very important aspect of professional competition," said Golter. "I spend at least eight hours a week training in the gym. My sport requires an incredible amount of skill in body positioning and shifting weight with strong graceful movements."

Golter's fitness regimen includes a variety of exercises on a therapeutic balance ball, sprinting, isometric flexing and an extreme amount of flexibility exercises.

Golter has over twenty years of experience as a Speedboarder. In April 2000, he entered the Extreme Downhill International (EDI) gravity racing tour and rolled away with the amateur championship. Golter has now made a move to the professional division and is able to qualify for the Gravity Games in September 2001. In December 2000, Mark reached an incredible speed of 70mph. "My next achievement is to break the 80mph mark," said Golter. Golter's ultimate goal is to place first at the 2001 Gravity Games in Providence, Rhode Island. With his continued success and his dedication to his craft, he's sure to shatter the 80mph barrier and place first in this year's Gravity Games.

Golter's sponsors include Etnies shoes, MCD clothing, Bones Bearings, Logic Optics, Exkate wheels and TVS streetboards.
