When are you going to be free?
There really are few truly independent people in this world, well, actually, more then you think. Those people who are who they are no matter what. They are not formed in to being what society says you should be. Some are famous and some you will never hear of, some will drift thru life with themselves being the only ones who ever know they are free and independent. When this country was new people from different countries were treated inferior. The yellow man was poked fun at and heaven forbid anyone paid any attention to his or her medical knowledge. They did weird things like eat or drink potions made from plants. Some were independent and carried on their traditions and taught others their medical knowledge. The American Indian were in the white man's eyes savage. We took from them and destroyed what we could of theirs. We then wanted to convert them to be like us. We wanted them to be white because anyone different then us were savage. many tried to be like the white man and fit in. Many gave up the Indiana ways. Some were independent and kept their heritage alive. Over time we had people who saw things. If what they say came true or if they scared us by what they knew or their potions we labeled them as witches. Before we became a nation back in the medieval days they were honored, we persecuted them. This is a large group that can be as simple as a person's knowledge in folk medicine to a physic. Everyone who continued or learned the ways that we as people of the USA looked at as unnatural were independent. They believed in what they were doing. We laughed at them and ignored them. We felt they were stupid or sometimes crazy. It is the twenty first century! We have made many advances in science. We have cured diseases that used to wipe out our villages. We can go to the moon and back. We have progressed so very far! Yet, it's the knowledge of each cultures forefathers that is bring back a healthy quality of life. What is it in life and this new century that is giving us a higher quality of life? The independent people we have put down. The geeks who designed the computer and programs you are using now. The scientist who studied while we were playing. The ancient ways of the people we persecuted when they to first came to the US. Science has given us a better understanding of disease and cultures have given us the ways to live better. Chemotherapy kills cancer; acupuncture and natural diets can relieve the effect of chemotherapy. Yoga helps the body and mind. It also strengthens the body. It has so many benefits. Meditation releases the body; it also heals the body, mind and soul. These are all things that we have been skeptical about and many still are. They are also now being realized to be valid forms of health care. Most of your good cancer centers realize that to cure disease you must also work with the total being of a person to succeed. It may have only started with wondering why some people lived when they were in worse condition then others who had died. It started with realizing that the mind and a person's attitude effect their survival of a disease. These leads to discovery of how all these things affect the mind and the body. We still do not all openly accept these alternative treatments. We may not put someone down for using him or her but we do not understand him or her so we ourselves do not always use alternative ways.. Yet, we are beginning to believe in them more and more each year. Have you ever been to a medical center that used both scientific and natural treatments? The most outstanding realization is that people there with a disease are walking around pain free while the counterparts of society in a normal hospital with the same thing are laying in a bed drugged up on chemicals and still suffering from pain. I am not saying that because it is natural it is fun; most of it is so different from what we are used to. The foods they eat or the taste of the herbs or enzymes is sometimes difficult to stand. We sometimes have so much junk from the food we eat in our systems we get sick from eating right. But, bottom line it's a higher quality of health care. More and more we are discovering how just treating the illness does not solve the problem. You must also treat the mind, which also treats the soul. The general medical society is realizing this but that does not mean they act upon it. My daughter is a prime example. She has had medical problems all this year. Her kidney is bleeding and spasming yet they cannot find a reason why. Test after negative test and even re-testing and still no answers. They have left it at......if it gets worse, go to the hospital. They have also just prescribed her more narcotics; actually, if she filled the total prescription she would get 500 pills. You call that health care? I call it addiction set up. She will be fine though. We have found her a holistic healer who has prescribed her herbal medications. It will take longer then expected with her to help because of all her past experiences. You see, the kidneys are associated with dread, fear of change, and a few other emotions along those lines. Which totally fits my daughter. She fears all change and clings onto things with dear life. If you are laughing after that statement think of this. You are going to give a speech. You are scared to get in front of the audience. You get butterflies. Some people throw up and some will get intestinal problems or some other symptoms. When you are worried or stressed about something the symptoms are not as noticeable but the effects build up. You either get over the cause of the worry or the stress or you honestly get sick. Stress alone will do a multitude of things to the body. I have a relative who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Untreated it has been known to kill people in as little as 6 weeks. It had been misdiagnosed at first that it had not spread to the liver. It was later discovered it was also affecting the liver. The Chemotherapists would not see him for two weeks. Well, gee, isn't that nice. It was ok though because Alternative medicine was the chosen route to take. To make a long story short, his tumor is shrinking. Everyone involved in helping with his care have already stated if they ever got cancer they knew where they would go. It usually takes a family member or a friend to search out the clinics that offer the total natural, holistic care. We feel that if a medical doctor does not prescribe it it is not any good. We do not stop and realize that the practitioners of holistic or natural or Eastern medicine were trained to do what they do. The training can run from 3 year and up depending on the type of treatments they specialize in. We also do not realize that most of them do not shun the modern ways of medicine they work with it. Each type of treatment has its place in a person's total medical care. The biggest thing that people are finally realizing is what power the mind has over our health. Just think how progressed and how much better our total health care system would be if in the beginning of this country we accepted and learned from those different then us. Our society in general would be so much healthier. Think about all of this next time you run into someone different then you. Someone your friends put down. Next time you are made fun think of this. Those who are independent, who believe in themselves or even just, believe in something other then the mighty dollar. Those who are different, independent and believe are the ones who later in life give us the tools to make our lives better. Take care of yourself and your loved ones! Lynn Beck |
