A lot of very exciting things are happening this month with Alternative Comics!
Our 9-11: Emergency Relief charity comic book collection to benefit the American Red Cross continues to garner incredible media, industry, and fan attention including mention in TIME, Georgetown Voice, San Jose Metro, Wizard: The Comics Magazine, The Comic Reader, and more. The 9-11: Emergency Relief book will ship at the beginning of January 2002 with an ISBN of 1-891867-12-1. Political cartoonist and 9-11: Emergency Relief contributor Ted Rall is scheduled as a panelist on ABC television's Politically Incorrect tonight, Wednesday, October 3, 2001 (check local listings for air time). We've printed up 10,000 postcards to distribute to promote the benefit book. Please contact me if you need any of these postcards or need additional information. The official 9-11: Emergency Relief website is: http://www.indyworld.com/relief.
Numerous Alternative Comics creators and 9-11: Emergency Relief contributing cartoonists including Nick Bertozzi (The Masochists, Boswash), Dean Haspiel (Opposable Thumbs, Billy Dogma), Josh Neufeld (Titans of Finance, American Splendor), and Tom Hart (The Collected Hutch Owen, Triple Dare), Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows), Mark Avon Oeming (Powers, Hammer of the Gods, Bluntman and Chronic), Mark Wheatley (Radical Dreamer, Hammer of the Gods), Robert Ullman (From the Curve) and Gray Morrow (Tarzan, The Body, Visionary) will join many dozens of other cartoonists in attending the Baltimore Comic-Con (http://www.comicon.com/baltimore/) on Sunday, October 28, 2001 in Towson, Maryland. In addition to the usual convention activities, including a room full of retailers selling back issues and discounted books and Q&A panels with various comics creators, at least one special auction will take place. Frank Cho has donated his cover art, thumbnail sketch, color guide, and the printer's color-proof of the cover to the 9-11: Emergency Relief benefit project to be auctioned off at the show to benefit the American Red Cross.
Our new Titans of Finance comic book is also receiving tremendously heavy attention and reorder activity. See the official site at: http://www.indyworld.com/josh. ISBN: 1-891867-05-9.
Alternative Comics, publishers of cool comic books, releases some of the most original and intelligent titles being created today.
