Kingfly

"Elevatorup"

Kingfly is back with a new CD “Elevatorup”! Reviewed in Purr 21 in 2000. They are again showing their talent and style in this CD. A pop/Rock n Roll band with a little alternative, a little beach, a little Beatles making sound of their own. Kingfly music is high-energy music even in their ‘soft’ rock songs.

Doug Davis and Anand Gan formed Kingfly in New York City in 1997; both originally from North Carolina and Maryland. The band’s first CD “Stock Music” was followed two years later by “Aquamarine Scene” which was more of a a focused effort. With a move to Doug’s home town of Winston-Salem, North Carolina , to a former studio used by Doug, the band comes out with “Elevatorup”

Kingfly music is must experience music if you are a music lover. They are very talented in not only their song writing but in the music itself. The vocals and music are blended together as one total entity of sound that woos the music lover in you. The music is lighthearted and very up beat. I personally love the vocal combination of Anand Gan and Doug Davis and could listen to them all day in the awe of the unity and blend. It is rare to find two vocalists that compliment each other as much as they do.

It’s hard to compare them to other bands in as giving you an example of their type of music. I would say, the Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Grass Roots, Friends of Distinction but a bit more modern day.

“Elevatorup” is a CD that most people will enjoy.
