Welcome to this issue of Purr. I know it was a long time to get out but it really could not be helped…and was more or less unavoidable. I am not going to tell you that things should be settled down now and the Purr should be back on schedule because every time I do that it seems to be a signal for something else to pop up! I will only say I hope things are back on schedule and that I get the time to start making the changes I’ve wanted to make for a long time now. Last night I sat a watched a special on 9/11. I have to admit it was the first time since the original event I have watched or read anything about the attack without having to stop because of the overwhelming sorrow. I guess because the way the special was presented was in the eyes of the photographer. It’s interesting actually how some people have changed. I only say some because honestly, there are some people out there that were not really touched by the events or even really acknowledge them. They just seem to go on lost in their own little wants and needs, yet if the subject comes up its brushed off with…..”We have to get on with our lives.” Yes, that is true, but if someone does not really acknowledge and accept the reality of what happened they really are not getting on with their lives only living in a delusional state leaving themselves and all those like them fair game. Do I think we could get attacked again? Sure, but I don’t think it will be when we are on alert for it. I will come when it is least expected. That is just logical. We will probably never know how many attacks we have already averted by being on alert for something. The problem is, most of us are not always alert to what is going on around us. I have read that people believe the government ignored warnings and the president is being blamed for the attacks…he could have stopped them. Gee, did the government, the president, know that two planes would be hijacked, flown into the towers and kill all those people? Did they know exactly what was going to happen??? If and only if, they knew exact events could they be blamed in any way. Let’s get real people. This is the US. We have believed for years that no one would attack us. If anyone said they would we you laugh and not take it serous. You expect me to believe that if the government posted an attack alert of some kind any one would have listened? No, one would have unless, it was stated…bombs were on there way here…. or fighter planes…. something someone could visibly see would have been taken serous. All other types of warnings would be ignored. Look at all the changes that we as a country have made. The security measures at air ports. The training all the agencies have gone through and are always updating, so far. The way the public accepts these changes. Do you really think what happened could have really been prevented? If the government had known a plane would be used as a weapon the only thing they could have done to stop it was to ground all planes. Now, tell me, how do you think that would have gone over in a pre 9-11 country? It would not have happened. Who would have believed them? Stop throwing around blame and saying we should have done this and we should have done that, instead look at the big picture. Look at the mental state of the people of this country. We had that attitude, who is stupid enough to mess with us? No one. We were full of the….’it will never happen here’ attitude. Wars are fought in other countries, not the US. We were more concerned with who we could sue to get money for our own thoughtless actions. Someone would have fought any security action and it still would have happened while people were fighting over the government trying to protect the country. We got so self absorbed, so self-assured we forgot ‘Pearl Harbor’. We forgot, not everyone is afraid of us…..we only think they are. Just because the people in general were lax it does not mean all the government was lax. But how do you get someone to believe there really is a threat? How do you get anyone to listen? I am not saying I totally believe the government did all the right things. I am only saying its time to stop trying to blame someone. I was not there, I was not in charge, and even if I was, how do I know how I would have reacted with society as it was. Again, how to you get someone to listen? It is time to move forward not back. Its time to get on with life but it is time to make sure we never again forget ‘Pearl Harbor’ or 9/11. Make the future better and more secure. Work towards World Peace. Remember what effects one little place in the world effects everyone in the world. No country is an isolated, untouchable entity, we are all in this together whether we like it or not, in not only war, but in all aspects of life. The best way to honor those who died is to never again let our guard down, to never become so self absorbed that we forget. May God (or the name your belief calls the supreme being.) Bless the people of this World and guide them towards Peace. May God (or the name your belief calls the supreme being.) guide the governments of this World in eliminating evil while at the same time protecting innocent lives. May God (or the name your belief calls the supreme being.) guide us all. Take care, Lynn Beck |
